North West Sanco leader laid to rest | News Article

The Provincial Secretary of the South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) in North West was laid to rest at Brits on Friday.

The 61-year-old Pasture Maremo, who is described as a principled and visionary leader, died in a road accident involving a truck, last week.

During his memorial service, which was held at the Brits Town Hall on Thursday, 12 January 2023, the Chairperson of Sanco Paul Sebegoe described Maremo as a beacon of hope for communities he served, an unflinching revolutionary cadre, as well as an organic, ethical leader – one who never lost his moral compass nor betrayed the National Democratic Revolution (NDR) for personal gain or at the expense of factional interests.

“Our communities saw him as a beacon of light, one which was dimmed with the demise of an unflinching revolutionary cadre and an organic ethical leader, one who never lost his moral compass nor betrayed the National Democratic Revolution for personal gain nor at the expense of factional interests,” said Sebegoe.

Sebegoe conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family of Sebegoe. He also emphasised that the North West province needs leaders who would seek out one another in service of the people.

“We need to outdo one another in compassion, love and support for one another, as epitomised by cadre Pasture, who was always willing to learn and accepted to be led. Though he spoke his mind, he was a disciplined cadre who never harboured ambitions to overthrow others from leadership positions. He understood what collective leadership is,” he said.

Sebegoe further urged young people to always live in hope and emulate Maremo’s unshakeable conviction as a colossal who detested lies and corruption with passion.
