Accident on N1 leaves three dead─── LUCKY NKUYANE 07:59 Sat, 17 Dec 2022
At least three people were killed whilst four others sustained varying injuries during an accident between a bus and bakkie on the N1 road in the Free State.
The three deceased were declared dead on the scene.
According to the provincial Emergency Medical Services (EMS) spokesperson, Sipho Towa, the accident occurred on the N1, about 20km from Ventersburg to Winburg, on Friday 16 December 2022.
Towa says four people suffered injuries ranging from critical, moderate and minor. They were sent to Winburg Hospital for medical attention.
"Three were declared dead on scene (two [were] trapped in the bakkie...), one was critical, two had moderate injuries, one minor injuries," Towa adds.
The accident happened a few days after another fatal accident occurred on Monday between a minibus taxi and truck on the N1 road next to Candy Farm, 22 km from Verkeerdevlei, towards Winburg.

The accident claimed the lives of 12 people whilst six were sent to the Bloemfontein-based Pelonomi Tertiary Hospital for medical care.
