President Ramaphosa in hot water yet again─── LUCKY NKUYANE 05:00 Mon, 24 Oct 2022
President Cyril Ramaphosa has yet again found himself in hot water over the use of state resources to attend an ANC event.
The Democratic Alliance's (DA) Member of Parliament (MP), George Michalakis, has reported Ramaphosa to the office of the acting Public Protector (PP), Nompilo Kholeka Gcalake, for the use of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) to attend an ANC event held in the Free State recently.
The event called Letsema Campaign was held in Welkom a few weeks ago.

This comes as the PP is investigating Ramaphosa over the Phala Phala game farm scandal where millions of US dollars were stolen.
Michalakis says Ramaphosa's visit to Welkom was to participate in the ANC’s Letsema campaign and engage with local ANC branches. He says the president was seen landing in a military helicopter in his ANC paraphernalia.
This is the second time Ramaphosa gets embroiled in controversy over party politics involving state resources.

In July 2022, Ramaphosa, alongside Premier Sisi Ntombela and the MEC for Cooperative Governance, Mxolisi Dukwana, among others, oversaw the handing over of a house to a child-headed family in Bloemfontein during an ANC event.

This also landed Ntombela and Dukwana in trouble with the DA in the Free State.
During the same period, the DA's leader in the Free State, Roy Jankielsohn, also referred an incident where the president and Ntombela were involved to the PP.
Michalakis says the trio handed over a state-funded house as part of the launch of the ANC’s Letsema campaign.
"The lengths that the governing party will to for political gain clearly have no bounds. It is of grave concern that the SANDF, a supposedly impartial organisation, is involved in politicking.
"The ANC has repeatedly shown its disregard for the separation of party and State and is willfully misusing taxpayer money to fund its own campaign," Michalakis adds.
Meanwhile, the president's spokesperson Vincent Magwenya is yet to comment.
