An accident involving two buses has left 36 learners injured in North West.
Provincial Education spokesperson, Elias Malindi, says that two buses were reportedly from Utlwanang Township heading to Kromellengboog Agric Focus Combined in Christiana.
Malindi says one bus crashed into the back of the other, en route back to the school. He says the accident took place when two buses were turning in the same direction. Malindi says emergency units were immediately summoned to the scene.
"About 94 learners were attended by the local clinic but 36 learners were referred for x-ray to different hospitals as follows, one in Klerksdorp suspecting fracture, 15 in Taung, 10 in Schweizer-Reneke and 15 in Bloemhof.
"The MEC for Education, Mmaphefo Matsemela, indicated that they wished a speedy recovery for all learners," said Malindi.
He further adds that Matsemela delegated district officials to visit the school to meet with the School Governing Body (SGB), senior management team and staff immediately after the shocking accident.
