Three arrested after body found in bushes in Hartbeespoortdam | News Article

Police in the North West have arrested three suspects in connection with the discovery of a body in the bushes near Xanadu Estate in Hartbeespoortdam.

The arrests follow a chilling sequence of events that began with a robbery earlier this month.

According to a police spokesperson. Mpho Manyoba, the breakthrough came when a 21-year-old man, who was passing along Xanadu Road with his uncle, recognised a woman emerging from the nearby bushes. She was allegedly attempting to board a taxi near the estate.

Held at knifepoint

The man identified her as one of the individuals who had allegedly robbed him the previous week, on Tuesday, 8 April 2025.

It is understood that the young man recounted being attacked at knifepoint while en route to a nearby college to deliver sports equipment. He was robbed of several soccer balls, his glasses, and a jacket. His Volkswagen Polo was later found abandoned in the same bushy area near Xanadu Estate.

After confronting the woman, the victim and his uncle called a neighbor who works for a local security company. The security officer checked the nearby bushes and discovered the body of a 34-year-old man at the very spot where the Polo had been found.

“Police were informed about this gruesome discovery at about 20:00,” said Manyoba.

Further investigations led authorities to the Brazaville Section in Atteridgeville, Gauteng. There, police arrested three suspects, a woman and two men believed to be linked to both the robbery and the murder.

Lady of the night

“Initial investigations revealed that the woman, who was allegedly working as a ‘lady of the night’, would work together with the men to rob potential clients,” she added.

During the arrests, police seized multiple cell phones and various stolen items, including the sports equipment taken from the 21-year-old victim. The suspects, aged between 22 and 35, have been charged with murder and robbery.

They are scheduled to appear before the Brits Magistrates Court on Tuesday (22/4). Police investigations into the case are ongoing.
