Youths picket outside court as former Matjhabeng MMC appear for murder─── 09:33 Thu, 05 May 2022
Scores of youth from different towns in Matjhabeng were picketing in front of the Virginia Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
Demonstrators held up posters with messages opposing bail to the suspects implicated in the murder case of Piet Moletsane, who was a ward councillor candidate at the time of his death.
The picket came as former Matjhabeng ward councillor and former Member of the Mayoral Committee, Sephiri Jan Liphoko, appeared before the court on murder charges.
Moletsane was gunned down in September last year.
The police's investigations resulted in two suspects being arrested in January, and now Liphoko - the alleged mastermind.
The case was postponed until 13 May. Liphoko remains in custody and will appear alongside his two co-accused during his next court appearance.
