Potchefstroom Central – the education hub with affordable homes
As the name suggests – Potchefstroom Central is located in the heart of town. In 2021, a total of 304 properties were sold in Potchefstroom Central and according to the Engel & Völkers Potchefstroom market research, most properties in Potchefstroom Central are 2 or 3 bedroom homes.
Prices range from R350 000 for a bachelors apartment, from R650 000 for a townhouse and from R1.1 million for a free standing home.
Engel & Völkers clients between the ages of 18 and 35 years prefer to buy in Potchefstroom Central, mostly because of the great schools in the area (there are seven!), such as Volkies and Potchefstroom Girls High - excellent examples of high quality schools that contribute to the attractiveness of Potchefstroom Central.
Additional factors include several shopping centers and affordability. The largest group of sellers in the area are clients above 65 years of age.
Baillie Park – a young family’s dream
According to the Engel & Völkers market research, a total of 209 properties were sold in 2021. Townhouses on the market in Baillie Park can be purchased from R900 000 and free standing homes from R1.5 million.
Baillie Park is currently a popular suburb and therefore also experiences a shortage in properties for sale. To address this, Engel & Völkers Potchefstroom Project Division markets 11 new developments in Potchefstroom, with both Birchwood Country Estate and Winfield Estate specifically addressing the property shortage in Baillie Park.
Clients of 36-49 years with young families prefer to buy in Baillie Park due to the established suburb, tree rich area, larger homes and stands as well as excellent schools like Ferdinand Postma High School, Baillie Park Primary and several preschools to choose from. Add to that various shopping centers and easy access to the N12 for a convenient lifestyle.
Lekwena Wildlife Estate – for the outdoor enthusiasts
Lekwena Wildlife Estate is a >3000 Ha private game reserve only 11km outside Potchefstroom, in the direction of Johannesburg (making it super convenient for commuters). Stands and homes on Lekwena are marketed exclusively by Engel & Völkers Potchefstroom.
There are 2 villages with a total of 146 stands, 2000sqm each. More than 50% of the stands have been sold.
The third village is located close to the Lekwena airstrip and the Lekwena restaurant and here you can buy stands from 3000sqm to 1 Ha on which you can build a hanger for your light aircraft, keep farm animals and stable your horse at the Lekwena Stables.
Engel & Völkers client, Gordon Crundwell, has been living on Lekwena Wildlife Estate since 2011 and was asked to describe his Lekwena lifestyle. Here’s what Gordon had to say: “We live surrounded by nature every day, Giraffes frequently visit our garden and the Lekwena residents form an amazing community. What more could you want?”
