Missing girl's body discovered behind Northern Cape government building─── 11:53 Fri, 01 Apr 2022
The body of an 11-year-old girl, who was reported missing, was discovered deep in the veld just behind the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature's building on Thursday.
The police spokesperson in the Northern Cape, Olebogeng Tawana, tells OFM News that the deceased Relebogile Segami’s body was found following an intensive search by the Galeshewe FCS unit, Kimberley K9 Unit, Galeshewe Visible Policing, and the Kimberley Search and Rescue Team. She was possibly strangled to death. The body of the victim was identified by the family at the Kimberley Police Station.
Tawana says a 24-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with murder. He will appear before the Galeshewe Magistrate's Court soon.
The communities of Madiba Square and John Daka in Galeshewe are furious and are calling for the blood of the male suspect. According to eyewitnesses, the young girl was last seen with the suspect on Wednesday evening, at about 18:00.
Investigations are underway.
