The premier of the Northern Cape, Zamani Saul, is adamant that his provincial government will be able to deal with and root out corruption cases in municipalities across the province.
He announced that his provincial government has even partnered with the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) and the Hawks, amongst others, to launch the Local Government Anti-Corruption Forum.
His stance comes after the Hawks have in the past few months nabbed former and current officials across municipalities and departments for fraud and corruption amounting to millions of rands.

These officials included the department's head (HOD) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO ) - Dion Garvey Theys and Mosimanagape Daniel Gaborone - who were arrested by the Hawks. They were arrested for allegedly awarding contracts amounting to R43 million to two companies without following prescribed procurement procedures in 2020.
Saul adds that his provincial government is working with all law enforcement agencies and chapter 9 institutions to root out corruption in all government institutions.
