The pressure group Mangaung Concerned Community (MCC) is set to meet with the Free State MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), Mxolisi Dukwana, on Tuesday to discuss the way forward on lingering issues of service delivery.

This, after a brief meeting between the two parties outside the Dr Molemela Indoor Sports Centre earlier on Monday, where MCC members staged a protest.

OFM News previously reported that disgruntled community members tried to force their way inside this centre in Bloemfontein, where the Free State Premier Sisi Ntombela was delivering her State of the Province Address (SOPA). The spokesperson of MCC, Themba Zweni, had told OFM News that they will be staging a protest at the Premier Sisi Ntombela’s State of the Province Address (SOPA) against all the injustices that are happening within the province.

“We don’t want a stance where other cabinet members are not present and giving us apologies for missing tomorrow’s meeting. It is very important for us to meet up with the provincial government and heads of departments (HODs) because we have different experiences when it comes to the provincial government. For instance, if you request something from one of the HODs, they keep on referring us to other people or shifting the responsibility. What we are saying is let's meet tomorrow with an understanding that we will be talking about solutions, we are tired, MEC, because we end up being called sellouts. People say that you are giving us money so that we end up not being able to lead the community. We are not going to accept that, we are tired of empty promises that you keep on giving us. Let’s see things being implemented. We heard that Mangaung HODs will soon be unemployed, however, we want to clarify that even though they end up being jobless, the municipality is still a huge problem. When we meet with you tomorrow, we are going to give a solution on Mangaung metro and it's not a new thing. We said that the council should be dissolved because it does not represent the people of Mangaung. They are busy fighting each other for positions and not issues of service delivery,” said Zweni.

Dukwana told the MCC members to come up with solutions to their problems so that they will be discussed in tomorrow's meeting.
