Case against former Matjhabeng municipal employee postponed─── BLAINE JONES 11:16 Tue, 23 Nov 2021
The court case against a Matjhabeng Municipal employee has been postponed to 13 December 2021 for further investigation.
A complaint was received by the Matjhabeng Local Municipality through social media about a driver who allegedly damaged a tyre of a compactor truck with an object. According to the Free State police spokesperson, Stephen Thakeng, a case of malicious damage to property was registered for further investigation. Thakeng says the incident that was making the rounds on social media, resulted in the arrest of the 46-year-old driver and former employee, Thabo Halahala, last week Friday.
Hahala was charged with malicious damage to property by the Matjhabeng Local Municipality, which amounts to R9 000.
The suspect allegedly damaged the tyre of the Isuzu compactor truck. The suspect reported to his supervisor on 18 November 2021 that he had a flat tyre on the truck that he was driving.
He appeared on Monday, 22 November in the Virginia Magistrate's Court and he was released on warning. His case was postponed to 13 December in the same court.
