OFM News earlier reported that according to the Emergency Medical Service's (EMS) Sipho Towa at least one person had been injured and transported to a hospital in Winburg following veldfires along the N1.
The association's Jan de Villiers confirmed the Aldam Resort and Willem Pretorius Nature Reserve outside Ventersburg were badly affected with several chalets damaged and land inside the two reserves destroyed by the fire.
The extent of the damage is yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, Free State MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, William Bulwane, confirms to OFM News that he will be visiting some of the affected areas tomorrow.
"We will also like to appeal to motorists to still take precautions and for farmers and farmworkers to keep safe,” said Bulwane.
