At least one person has been injured and transported to a hospital in Winburg following veldfires that broke out in the Free State.
This is according to the Emergency Medical Service's (EMS) Sipho Towa.
Firefighters in the province have been battling to contain the fire that broke out next to the N1 between Winburg and Ventersburg since Friday evening.
Reports indicate that the Ventersburg fires were contained by 23:00 last night.
OFM News reported last night that the Free State Umbrella Fire Protection Association was still hard at work trying to extinguish the fire near Aldam Resort.
All the houses and holiday flats had been evacuated in anticipation of the fire approaching the resort.
Towa says motorists are still advised to make use of alternative routes.
