Opposition parties call for the dissolution of Emfuleni Municipality's council─── 11:30 Sun, 08 Aug 2021
Opposition parties in the Emfuleni Local Municipality are not impressed by the suspension of Municipal Manager (MM), Lucky Leseane.
Leseane's suspension follows alleged misconduct and poor performance.
The MM accounts for the municipality's income and expenditure, assets and other obligations such as proper adherence to all legislation applicable to the municipality.
The opposition parties are demanding a complete change of the ANC leadership and the dissolution of the municipal council.
Opposition parties view that a competent, qualified, proactive and well-deserved administrator should be appointed until the next local government elections.
Meanwhile, mayoral spokesperson Lebo Mofokeng emphasized, service delivery will not be affected, citing the municipality will continue to work together with the Gauteng provincial government.
An independent body has been appointed to investigate all allegations against Leseane, while Thabo Ndlovu has been appointed as acting MM pending the finalisation of the matter.
