Hartswater murder accused denied bail a second time─── OLEBOGENG MOTSE 10:27 Tue, 09 Mar 2021

Accused number four in the horrific abduction and murder of Danie, Breggie and Elzabie Brand outside Harstwater in July 2020, has been denied bail for a second time.
The accused – 43-year-old Kgomotso Mpumlwana – on Monday 8 March unsuccessfully applied for bail in the Hartswater Magistrate’s Court for a second time since her arrest, citing the absence of someone to look after her 21-year-old disabled son as one of her main reasons. Mpumlwana says she has not been receiving treatment for a chronic medical condition whilst in prison.
During her first bail application back in August 2020, the fourth accused in the matter said she was innocent, adding that she did not know the cell phone in her possession belonged to one of the deceased. Mpumlwana will be joined by her co-accused in the dock when the case resumes on 25 March 2021 in the Hartswater Magistrate's Court.
The 83-year-old Danie, his 73-year-old wife Breggie and their 54-year-old daughter Elzabie were abducted on Sunday 26 July 2020 from their smallholding outside Hartswater. They were killed following the abduction and their bodies were later dumped in Taung, North West - days after their disappearance.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) is hopeful the trial into the matter will get underway and “that outstanding DNA samples will not delay proceedings”.
