Emfuleni mayor receiving death threats─── 16:09 Tue, 03 Nov 2020
The Emfuleni local municipality's Mayor, Gift Moerane, has been receiving death threats in the Vaal.
Mayoral spokesperson Lebo Mofokeng confirmed the threats, but could not elaborated further.
News of the threats surfaced on Tuesday, after the Mayor failed to address residents on a community radio station.
Responding to Ofm News’ questions, Mofokeng confirmed the threats, however indicated that the mayor failed to talk to the residents because he had an urgent meeting to attend, which made the radio interview impossible.
The failure by the Mayor to address the residents has received mixed reactions, with some residents calling for the mayor's resignation.
