NC intensifies efforts against #Covid19 | News Article

The Northern Cape province vows to disinfect more taxis and to continue handing out sanitisers, masks, and gloves in a bid to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

This, as the number of positive cases has increased from eight to 13. The province has two Covid-19 cases which trace back to a church gathering in the Free State,  where those infected were in contact with five international guests who tested positive for the virus. In efforts to curb the spread of the virus, Premier Zamani Saul said the province embarked on a massive drive to disinfect taxis at the taxi ranks, hand over hand sanitisers, masks, gloves and ensure that taxis comply with the National Disaster Management Regulations as set out by President Cyril Ramaphosa. Saul says taking into account that they are one of the drought hit provinces battling with water supply, they will also continue ensuring that there is adequate provision of water to residents.

He says handing out food parcels to poverty-stricken households whilst the country is under lockdown is amongst some of the efforts undertaken by the province.

Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize, last night announced that the number of positive cases in the country now stands at 1 845 which is an increase of 96.

Gauteng remains the epicentre, followed by the Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and the Free State.
