Health Minister heads to FS | News Article

The community of Sasolburg in the Free State will today be amongst the first to receive the new female condom MAXIMA.

This, as the Health Minister Zweli Mkhize launches the new female condom as part of the department’s strategy to eradicate the spread of HIV/Aids, STI's, and teenage pregnancy. Mkhize accompanied by Health MEC, Montseng Tsiu, will today engage the community of Zamdela at the Bekezela Primary School and explain how the new condoms will help the country achieve its HIV preventative targets. Following the coronavirus outbreak in China and speculations that a number of Free State venues are being considered for quarantine, Mkhize will, amongst others, be expected to clarify the matter to members of the public.

OFM News yesterday reported that South Africans stranded in Wuhan city in Hubei might soon be brought back to the country and that a number of venues, including the Black Mountain Hotel near Thaba Nchu, are being scouted as a possibility where those repatriated could be placed for the planned 21-day quarantine period.

OFM News’ Cathy Dlodlo previously reported that Black Mountain General Manager, Peter Leonard, however, said he does not want to comment. Free State Health spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, on the other hand, said his department is ready for when any of the repatriated citizens are heading towards the province.
