Mbalula hands out bicycles in NC─── MARVIN NTSANE 12:53 Mon, 24 Feb 2020
The Transport Minister, Fikile Mbalula, handed over 249 Shova Kalula bicycles to learners from six schools in De Aar in the Northern Cape today.
The distributed bikes are the first batch of 500 bicycles which will be handed over to learners walking long distances to school.
The Minister was joined by the Northern Cape Premier Zamani Saul, Transport MEC Nontobeko Vilakazi, and Education MEC Mac Jack. As part of the proceedings, Mbalula, along with Saul and a group of learners, took part in a bike ride from Nonzwakazi Hall to Veritas High School.
Learner licenses were also handed over to Grade 11 and Grade 12 learners who took part in the department of transport’s learner licenses programme.
