Water supply interrupted due to faulty Eskom cable─── 15:54 Tue, 10 Dec 2019
Ventersburg and Hennenman in the Free State are without water due to a faulty electrical cable at a pumping station in Riebeeckstad, Welkom.
A source told OFM News that these two towns have been without water since Sunday. He further says he is concerned that this might take longer to be fixed due to the load-shedding currently in effect. The residents are receiving water from the community members who have boreholes at their houses.
The municipal spokesperson, Kgojane Matutle, says the municipality is aware of this and therefore it is Eskom’s duty to fix the faulty cable. Meanwhile, the Matjhabeng Municipality is sending water trucks to the affected areas to bring relief. OFM News could not reach Eskom for a comment after several attempts.
