The service delivery protest in Soutpan, Free State, still continues. The residents, children and workers still have not reported for school or work today. Meanwhile, businesses remain closed.

The police spokesperson, Sinah Mpakane, says the situation is calm and everything is under control at the moment. There is high police visibility in the area and they continue to monitor the situation.

The residents say they are waiting for a message from the office of the premier to confirm the time the Free State premier, Sisi Ntombela, will arrive today. Speculations are that she will be present to address their issues later today.

This follows a protest march which started in the early hours of Monday morning, where residents barricaded roads with rocks and burned tyres to convey their frustration with the poor service delivery.
