Glen hosts SA Agricultural Rugby Tournament─── 10:55 Sat, 22 Jun 2019
The Glen Agricultural College outside Bloemfontein is currently hosting the 2019 SA Agricultural Rugby Tournament.
This ground-breaking tournament was officially launched at a glittering function by newly appointed Agriculture MEC, William Bulwane, last night.
The tournament that was first held in 1919, will this year comprise of eight teams from agricultural colleges around the country.
During the launch, Head of Department Janki Masiteng said they are excited to be hosting a tournament of this magnitude, particularly when they are celebrating 100 years of existence.
He says the week-long tournament, taking place 21 - 28 June, forms part of the centenary celebrations that will take place throughout the year.
Masiteng adds to celebrate the centenary year, the college had already hosted a very successful marathon while soccer and netball tournaments are scheduled to take place later in the year.
Some of the activities lined up for this year include, among others, Potato Week and host of agricultural activities.
