The ANC's Premier candidate for the Free State, Sisi Ntombela, will soon officially take office after she was elected Premier of the Free State in the provincial legislature today.

Following several Members of Provincial Legislature's (MPLs) nominations for her to retain her position, she was presided into the position by the Free State High Court Acting Judge President CJ Musi. Ntombela has taken an oath to lead the province to the best of her abilities and serve in the position with honesty and integrity. She has further expressed gratitude to members of the public who voted for the ANC in the general elections that were held two weeks ago. She vowed to put the interest of the public first and ensure service delivery in all spheres of government.

The newly elected Speaker of the Legislature, Zanele Sifuba, has also taken the oath to respect her seat and execute her duties with diligence. This, after she was nominated into the position by MPLs during the first sitting of the house on Wednesday.

Sefuba succeeds Mamiki Qhabathe. She is amongst the new members who have taken top ranks in the provincial legislature. Lucy Mapena will, on the other hand, serve as the Deputy Speaker of the house.

The new Chief Whip will be Vusimusi Tshabalala taking the reins after Sizwe Mbalo.
