#Nehawu members set to appear in FS Court─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 06:49 Mon, 25 Feb 2019
At least 15 Nehawu members in the Free State are expected to appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Monday.
This, after they were arrested last week at the Motheo TVET College in Bloemfontein. They were part of the group that embarked on a national strike at TVET and CET colleges. Members who were arrested at the College's Hillside View Campus are alleged to have contravened a court order.
Provincial Nehawu chairperson, Moeketsi Napo, has, however, expressed his dissatisfaction with the arrest of the members on grounds that the members were arrested while they were embarking on a protected national strike. The unions' strike saw a number of colleges across the country shut down.
Nehawu also demands that workers on contracts be employed permanently and that there be pension benefits for workers in the CET sector.
