Bloemfontein Water Crisis
Members of opposition stage walkout because of #BloemWaterCrisis─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 12:28 Tue, 21 Nov 2017
The current #BloemWaterCrisis and Free State municipalities' debts to the water boards came under scrutiny during the Provincial Legislature sitting today.
This, after residents in some parts of Bloemfontein have been left without water for several days. Some members of opposition parties staged a walkout after failing to receive answers on the water crisis and as to when it will be resolved.
Speaker of the Legislature, Mamiki Qabathe, told the House that some of the questions relating to the water crisis in Mangaung cannot be answered at this stage due to the absence of the Provincial Water and Sanitation representatives.
Mangaung Municipal spokesperson, Qondile Khedama, told OFM News that they are uncertain of how long it will take to repair the burst water pipe.
It initially affected residents in the southern parts of the city, including Pellissier, Fichardt Park and Fauna, but the crisis has spread to some northern parts of Bloemfontein as well.
