The Northern Cape Theatre has slowly, but surely come back to life after a revamp.

Over the past year, the Kimberley-based theatre has hosted multiple events, including the latest Show Your Talent organised by Merissa Meyers. She says she chose the theatre for the event because it has everything they required for their show.

“We already received so much appreciation from the community. We limited the age to only 18 years and younger as we believe this specific age group is limited to entertainment and resources in our community,” said Meyer.

This event left a positive mark on the youth in the Northern Cape, and afterward, many of them approached Marissa asking her to host similar events at the Theatre, or even an annual show your talent.

“We are definitely going to host this same event again at the theatre in 2025, we would like to give every child an opportunity to showcase it, and to a live audience with the opportunity to get funded,” added Meyer.

The theatre gained momentum within the community after this last show and the promise of more shows in the pipeline.

“I was totally blown away by the support we received. We planned for a two-hour show, but due to a break in electricity, we lost an hour and ended later than anticipated. However, everyone stayed until the end.”

Communities delighted in the showcase for a good cause, to raise funds for a young girl to get her on her trip to New York to showcase her dancing skills at a competition abroad.
