Bloemfontein. - The already struggling Super 14 outfit, the Cheetahs, chances of getting their act together in their home games were dealt another blow early this morning. OFM News has learnt that their first choice fullback, Wilton Pietersen, was in a serious motor accident this morning. Pietersen is in Bloemfontein's Medi-Clinic's ICU where he is receiving treatment. It is believed that he is in a very serious condition and it is highly unlikely that he will play any rugby again in 2009.

The South African under 20 fullback and Bok Sevens player made his Currie Cup debut for the Cheetahs in 2008. He however, due to a knee operation, missed out on the Cheetahs away games in the Super 14. Pietersen was on his way to full recovery and on the verge of being picked for the Free State for Vodacom Cup action. He was also part of coach Naka Drotské's Super 14 plans.
