Welkom - The Thabong police station in Welkom has been recognised as the best performing station in the Free State for the fourth consecutive year.
Station commander, Cois Muller, also scooped the award for best station commander in the province at the ceremony in Bloemfontein.
Muller says his staff is disciplined and deserve the award because they are part of a collective that wants to get the job done and are passionate about their work.
Muller admitted that it wasn't always smooth sailing this year, as nine of their members were arrested in September for corruption related to illegal mining.
He added that the community of Thabong in Welkom can attest to the good work being done at the station.
The station will again compete for the award of the best performing station in the country, which they won last year.
