Kuruman - Construction of the road in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District in Kuruman is once again in full swing, despite objections from community members wanting employment from contractors Tau Pele and Down Touch Investments.
This is the word from the Joe Morolong Road Forum’s Kagisho Gaborokwe, who says they plan to meet with both contractors later this week.
Construction on the Dithakong side was ongoing for some time, while on the Lexie side, construction resumed this morning after the resolution of employment issues between the community at contractors.
Gaborokwe says the road forum will meet today, and tomorrow they will meet with the community and hopefully by Wednesday construction can go ahead undisturbed.
Earlier this year, schools were closed for more than three months due to violent protests by the community, over the road currently under construction, which they wanted tarred.
Matriculants will write supplementary exams next year, while grades R to 11 will be repeated.
