Qwa-Qwa - Ten schools in Qwa-Qwa have received much-needed equipment in a bid to encourage mathematics and science education across the Free State.

Education MEC, Tate Makgoe and Kagiso Trust chairperson, Dean Nevhutalo say seven high schools and three primary schools will benefit.

The high schools were rewarded with computer and science laboratories and a library each, in recognition of their 80% matric results achievement.

The primary schools received mathematics laboratories and a library each, in recognition for having done well in the Annual National Assessments.

Makgoe says the education department wants to concentrate on quality education in maths and science education.

The Free State recorded the highest pass rate nationally in the matric results released in January this year.
