Bloemfontein - Free State University students celebrated on Wednesday after the release of Student Representative Council (SRC) results.
23-year old Governance and Political Transformation student, Phiwe Mathe was elected SRC president at the university's Bloemfontein campus.
Mathe beat his two opponents with 45 % from a 32% voter turnout. Mathe and his counterpart from Qwaqwa campus, Motlogelwa Moema say they speak of leadership that is transparent and accountable leadership to the students that they serve.
Amongst Mathe’s plans is to introduce a student assembly where the SRC will be held accountable and to also integrate off-campus students into campus activities.
