CSA outlines criteria for deciding final T20 log positions | News Article
Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Wednesday outlined the criteria that will be used to determine final log positions in the RAM SLAM T20 Challenge in the event of teams finish equal on points.

The bizhub Highveld Lions, the Chevrolet Warriors and the Nashua Titans have already been confirmed as the teams in the three top positions who will either qualify for direct entry into the final and home ground advantage or for the qualifier between the second and third-placed teams.

The Nashua Titans currently top the log with 26 points followed by the bizhub Highveld Lions on 25 and the Chevrolet Warriors on 22. The Nashua Titans have completed their league programme but the other two will both be in action in their final matches on Thursday, 28 March 2013, when the bizhub Highveld Lions are at home to the Sunfoil Dolphins at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium while the Chevrolet Warriors travel to Sahara Park Newlands to take on the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras.

At the moment all three franchises have the possibility of finishing top of the log and there could also be a tie either for first place or second.

The criteria for deciding final positions when teams are level on points are as follows in terms of Clause 21.9.1 of the RAM SLAM T20 Challenge Playing Conditions:

In the event of teams finishing on equal points, the right to play in the second and third-placed qualifier will be determined in the following order of priority:
• The team with the most number of wins;
• If still equal, the team with the most number of wins over the other team(s) who are equal on points and have the same number of wins;
• If still equal, the team with the highest number of bonus points;
• If still equal, the team with the highest net run rate;
• If still equal, the team with the higher runs to wickets ratio throughout the series.”

The same analogy shall be utilised for determining who shall be placed 1st of 2nd.

The second and third-place qualifier will take place at the ground of the second-placed team on Wednesday, 3 April 2013. The Final will take place at the ground of the top-placed team on Sunday, 7 April 2013.

The two franchises in the final will represent CSA in this year’s Champions League tournament.
