A 31-year-old man handed himself over to the police after he allegedly raped a woman. The suspect, Otsile Boinamo, will appear before the Itsoseng Magistrate’s Court on 4 November 2021 for a formal bail application.

North West police spokesperson, Adéle Myburgh, says it is alleged that Boinamo offered to take a disabled woman home from a tavern in Bodibe Village near Itsoseng, when he took her to his place and allegedly raped her.

“It is alleged that a 30-year-old disabled woman in a wheelchair was visiting friends on Friday 22 October 2021 and later went to a tavern in Bodibe Village near Itsoseng. The woman was about to leave the tavern at 19:00 when Boinamo volunteered to take her home. However, on their way, the accused instead took her to his place in Zone 1, where he allegedly raped her,” says Myburgh.

“The victim managed to escape by crawling out of the house into the street where she was assisted by a passer-by, who contacted the police. As a result, a case of rape was opened for investigation,” says Myburgh.
