The 24-time Grand Slam champion, Novak Djokovic, is on track for the elusive gold medal at the Olympic Games in Paris. On Wednesday, the Serbian player (37) advanced to the quarterfinals of the men’s singles at Roland Garros.
Djokovic beat Dominik Koepfer of Germany 7-5 and 6-3 to advance to the last eight where he will play against Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece. Tsitsipas, in turn, beat Sebastian Baez of Argentina 6-5 and 6-1 in the third round.
Djokovic’s only Olympic success came in Beijing 2008 when he won the bronze medal.

Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz beat Roman Safiullin 6-4 and 6-2, and Tommy Paul of the USA beat Corentin Moutet of France 7-6 and 6-3. The defending champion, Alexander Zverev of Germany, beat Alexei Popyrin of Australia 6-4 and 6-2.
Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada dispatched Daniil Medvedev of Russia, who played as an independent, 6-3 and 7-6, and Casper Ruud of Norway knocked out Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina with a 6-3 and 6-4 win. Lorenzo Musetti of Italy in turn beat Taylor Fritz of the USA 6-4 and 7-5.
In the other quarterfinals, Paul will be up against Alcaraz, Zverev will play against Musetti and Ruud will take on Auger-Aliassime.
