Marumo secure vital away win in Cape Town─── MORGAN PIEK 07:59 Sun, 16 Mar 2025

The Bloemfontein-based Marumo Gallants claimed a vital away win in the Premier Soccer League on Saturday, moving out of the relegation zone – at least for now.
Gallants recorded just their second away victory of the season as they edged Cape Town City FC 1-0 at Athlone Stadium in the southern suburbs of Cape Town.
A seventh-minute goal from the Malawian international striker Gabadinho Mhango separated the two teams after 90 minutes, earning Gallants three valuable points and lifting them to 13th place on the log, ahead of Richards Bay and SuperSport United.
However, both Richards Bay and Matsatsantsa a Pitori have a game in hand over Gallants. Richards Bay will face Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday, while Magesi FC climbed to 11th on the log after securing a 1-0 home win against Golden Arrows in Polokwane.

Following the victory, Gallants’ coach Abdeslam Ouaddou admitted his side didn't play their best football but emphasised the importance of picking up points against the struggling Citizens.
“It was not an easy game against very good players with big talent. I cannot say that we had a great game in terms of possession or football, but in our position, points are an emergency,” said Ouaddou.
‘We have to save the club’
“We don’t care about how we play right now – we need points. It’s not my philosophy, but we have to save the club, and we will do anything we can to win.”
Sunday’s PSL action features a top-of-the-table clash at 15:30, with second-placed Orlando Pirates taking on log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns at Soccer City. Meanwhile, Richards Bay will host Amakhosi at the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium.
Later, at 17:45, Sekhukhune United face Stellenbosch FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in what will be Eric Tinkler’s first home game in charge of Sekhukhune.
