Mop-up operations underway in Lenasia─── 13:07 Mon, 04 Jan 2021
Work is underway to clear the R558 bridge, while the N12 remains closed, following heavy rains and floods in Lenasia in Gauteng.
Some residents had to be evacuated from their homes following heavy rains from Friday.
Community member Jay Veloo this morning told OFM News that government intervened in terms of disaster relief, while some affected residents refused to leave their affected homes.
No casualties were reported. Some community members donated equipment to help clear the affected roads and street in the area.
Member of the mayoral committee, Margaret Arnold, and the Disaster management team have also visited the area.
Some parts of Gauteng have experienced the floods over the weekend, with Vanderbijlpark in the Vaal Triangle also affected.
