“Yes, he is in the squad. We only just finalised everything this morning, so I’m sure it was going to come through a little bit later. We will check him, but he should be 100 percent and raring to go.”

The Knights have received a major boost ahead of their all-important CSA T20 Challenge clash against the Lions in Bloemfontein on Wednesday.

It is confirmed that the destructive Proteas left-handed batter, Rilee Rossouw, is back with the Knights for another spell with the Free State. Rossouw, who turned 35 years old on Wednesday plays his cricket across the world in various T20 leagues and could be in action against the defending champions on his birthday.

Rossouw has been injured, but is fully recovered and ready for action at the team where his illustrious career started. The Knights assistant coach, Lotli Sesele, told OFM Sport that Rossouw is fit and ready.

“Yes, he is in the squad. We only just finalised everything this morning, so I’m sure it was going to come through a little bit later,” said Sesele. “We will check him, but he should be 100 percent and raring to go.

“Everything is good in the squad and we’re obviously pretty happy to get over the line against the Warriors after the close games. We’ve been playing some good cricket, so getting that first win was really good.

“Hopefully we can take that confidence and momentum and have a great game at home.”

The Knights welcome the experience of Rossouw after bringing in the experience of the spinners Aaron Phangiso and the captain Dane Piedt, who are both Proteas as well. In addition, the return of the seamer Malusi Siboto has also been a masterstroke by the Knights and it has paid off.

The other Proteas in the Knights squad at the moment are the opening batters Jacques Snyman and Gihahn Cloete, who have each played a couple of games for South Africa.

Wednesday’s game between the Knights and Lions at the Mangaung Oval is scheduled to start at 18:00.
