The Toyota Cheetahs remain unbeaten in the Currie Cup after two rounds following a bonus point win against Western Province in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

The Cheetahs ran in five tries at the Toyota Stadium as they beat the visitors from Cape Town 37-17 following a dominant second half performance.

The match was deadlocked at 10-10 at half time after Jean-Luc du Plessis scored a try for Province, while Daniel Kasende scored a try for Free State.

In the second half, it was almost a one-sided affair as the Cheetahs didn't allow the slowing down tactics to influence their play.

The centre, Munier Hartzenberg and 8th-man, Jeandré Rudolph each scored a try for the home side, while the replacement hooker, Vernon Paulo sealed the deal with a brace of tries.

The only try for Province in the second forty minute period was courtesy of CJ Velleman who recently made a return to the sport following a brief retirement.

Rudolph was excellent for the Cheetahs in the second half and the soon to be father was named as the man of the match.

Rudolph told OFM Sport that it's important to win home matches in the Currie Cup.

“With the shortened Currie Cup it's important to win your home games and as the defending champions we pride ourselves on playing well here,” said Rudolph.

“Confidence wise I think the boys put in a great shift, and like you said, we're taking it on the road next week.”

On Friday at 17:00 the Cheetahs will face the Blue Bulls at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.
