“I never said that I'm going to stop - I'm very happy in my job and as I said a few days ago, the guys give me a lot of satisfaction.”
The Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos, has downplayed the idea that he will be quitting the national team and retire from coaching.
The former Belgian international defender that played at the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico is 71-years-old and there have been talks that he will retire.
He has been in charge of Bafana since 2021 and during his tenure a defeat has been a rare occurrence.
Broos said that at this stage there are no thoughts of retiring or quitting his job.
“I never said that I should stop, it's only when you talk about my this comes up, and I think that is normal that you think it's maybe time that I have to stop,” said Broos.
“I never said that I'm going to stop - I'm very happy in my job and as I said a few days ago, the guys give me a lot of satisfaction.
“I'm proud to be the coach of this team and the future will tell the rest.”
On Saturday night at 22:00, Bafana will face the Democratic Republic of Congo in the AFCON 3rd and 4th place playoff. The final will be played at the same time on Sunday night when the hosts, Ivory Coast go head-to-head with Nigeria.
