Three more Toyota Cheetahs players are heading to Wales on short-term contracts with the United Rugby Championship team, the Ospreys.

Last year, the first three players joined the Welsh club with Rewan Kruger, Marnus van der Merwe and Daniel Kasende all enjoying some game time in the URC. Kasende in his turn is busy serving a suspension for foul play against Oyonnax.

Van der Merwe has since been linked with a permanent move to another Welsh team, the Scarlets.

This time, it’s the Cheetahs captain and lock Victor Sekekete, as well as the 8th-man Jeandré Rudolph and centre, Evardi Boshoff, heading overseas.

The trio are set to spend a bit longer than Kruger, Van der Merwe and Kasende in Swansea and it remains to be seen if they will be available for the EPCR Challenge Cup round of sixteen game against Clermont in France.

Speaking to OFM Sport from the Cape Town International airport on Thursday night, Boshoff said they’re all excited and hoping for some game time, but look forward to the experience.

“We're just here in Cape Town now and waiting for our flight to Amsterdam and then from there to Bristol, ” said Boshoff.

“It's a massive opportunity, but I just can't wait to get there, give it my all and maybe get some game time.

“I know that myself, Jeandré and Victor are all very excited for this opportunity. Hopefully we can make a difference and get some game time.

“With the previous guys, Marnus, Rewan and Dan, they all enjoyed some game time, all three of them, so hopefully it will be the same with us.

“We are going to be there for three games, which will be two months, so it will be more time to adjust to the system and everything like that.

“For us it will really mean a lot if we can get some time on the field in the URC.”

The URC resumes next week with the Ospreys at home to the Irish team, Ulster, in Swansea.
