The Toyota Cheetahs will be doing a Currie Cup trophy tour in Bloemfontein today to celebrate their big victory on the weekend.
On Saturday night the Cheetahs won the coveted Currie Cup for a seventh time when they defeated the defending champions the Pumas 25-17 in a thrilling final in front of some 34 000 spectators.
The sea of orange was certainly not left disappointed and they too played their part in helping the team secure victory.
The Cheetahs coach Hawies Fourie told OFM Sport that it was something special when the supporters put their cell phone lights on.
“It was really special and I took a video with my cell phone as well,” said Fourie.
“At the time there was a break on the field and it was something that I couldn't believe. It's something that I will keep with me for the rest of my life.
“There people of Bloemfontein really get behind you when they support you and we are thankful for their backing.
“I'm glad that we could pay them back - earlier in the Currie Cup we didn't win our home games against the Lions and the Sharks, so we let them down, and now I think that they have forgiven us.”
