Cheetahs make one change for Currie Cup final─── MORGAN PIEK 14:25 Fri, 23 Jun 2023
The Toyota Cheetahs have made just one change to their starting XV for Saturday’s big Currie Cup final against the Pumas in Bloemfontein.
The Cheetahs made a change at loosehead prop with the veteran Schalk Ferreira ruled out through concussion and this sees Mox Mxoli earning a start in the number one jersey.
Hencus van Wyk has passed his HIA protocol and will provide cover at tighthead from the bench.
The flyhalf, Siya Masuku, returns to the bench after missing out on ther 39-10 semi-final win against the the Bulls a week prior. Evardi Boshoff is unfortunate to drop out of the match 23, however, it one of those tough desicision the coach, Hawies Fourie, had to make. Masuku does bring the added benefit of a well-educated kicking boot.
Meanwhile, the Cheetahs had their captain's run on Friday morning and the vibe in the camp is at an all-time high.
The Cheetahs captain, Victor Sekekete, told OFM Sport that they are ready and the are psyched up for the big game.
“Yes, we are ready,” said the towering lock.
“Everyone has been waiting for the this for a few years now and the big psych and vibe in the camp and we've been waiting for this day.
“We've been waiting for it for quite some time now. It will be a blessing and it will showcase all of the hard work that we've been putting in throughout the year.
“This is the one thing that we want the most and it's going to mean a lot.”
