Strydom lauds the Cheetahs fighting spirit─── MORGAN PIEK 12:44 Wed, 18 Jan 2023
The assistant coach of the Toyota Cheetahs, Charl Strydom, has lauded the fighting spirit in the team heading into their all-important European Challenge Cup game against Section Paloise in Parma on Sunday.
While the Cheetahs have suffered back-to-back defeats to the Scarlets in the competition they are in with a shout for a spot in the next round.
A win will however be required when they take on the French Top14 in Italy this week.
Strydom told OFM Sport as a team they want to prove that they belong in a major international competition.
“It just shows again the fighting spirit of the Free State, said Strydom.
“Being kicked out in all competitions in the last six years, and then every time coming back with new players coming in and adapting to what we want to do. Then producing and putting us in a position to qualify for the top 16 of the European Challenge Cup.
“I think that's a great story and I just think that shows the fighting spirit of the people of the Free State.”
Sunday’s big game at Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi kicks off at 17:15.
