The Springboks will be naming their team on Tuesday afternoon for Saturday's Test against Italy in Genoa.
The Springboks are waiting for Pieter-Steph du Toit's disciplinary hearing in order to make a call on his availability, however, it is doubtful that he will be cleared of his red card.
The Springboks' forwards coach, Deon Davids, explained that Du Toit will face a hearing on Tuesday, and this could influence their team selection for the Test.
"Pieter-Steph’s hearing is on Tuesday and if we get an answer soon, we’ll plan accordingly," Davids said on Monday.
"There are processes that are followed when a player is yellow- or red-carded, and in Pieter-Steph’s case, the same process will be followed.
"We feel sorry for Pieter-Steph that he got a red card in that clash. The Pieter-Steph I know does everything within the rules and doesn’t try to play outside of them."
The former Cheetahs hooker, Joseph Dweba, was not named in the SA 'A' team to play against the Bristol Bears, as he is on standby with the Springboks.
The Springbok assistant coach, Mzwandile Stick, confirmed there is concern over Malcom Marx’s availability to face the Azzurri.
"Joseph Dweba is on standby for the Springboks," said Stick when he explained why there was a change at hooker in the SA ‘A’ team.
"Malcolm Marx has a knock to his quad, so the Springboks have Dweba on standby. JJ Kotze was not involved last week, so it’s only fair to give him game time."
Saturday's Test between Italy and the Springboks kicks off at 15:00.
