There are a few niggles in the Stormers camp as the defending URC champions do their fine-tuning ahead of this weekend’s campaign opener against Connacht from Galway in Ireland.

This paves the way for Blommetjies to make a possible debut, but he has also done well for the Stormers during their preseason friendlies.

Blommetjies joined the URC champions in the off-season after spending the majority of his career at the Cheetahs.

The two-time Currie Cup champion has played for the Stormers in their warm-up games, but is yet to make his official debut.

The Stormers assistant coach, Dawie Snyman, told OFM Sport they bought Blommetjies for a reason.

“We signed Clayton for a specific role and he has actually slotted in nicely.

“He had a great game against the Sharks in our preseason friendly, so Clayton will bring his own style.

“It's just us having to adapt to him and play off of him.

“We got him here for a reason - he is a good counterattacking player, but he can also kick well and his is good under the high ball. So it's exciting to see him go.”

The Stormers face Connacht at 14:30 on Saturday at the Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch.
