The Springbok utility back, Damian Willemse, has lauded his team, coaches and Elton Jantjies following Saturday’s Test against the Wallabies in Sydney.
Willemse started at flyhalf for the Springboks for the first time and his performance helped steer South Africa to a famous 24-8 win.
The exciting player has also named as the man of the match following his stellar performance.
Willemse said everyone in the camp played their part in seeming him successfully transition into the pivot role.
“Elton's been massive, he’s an absolute team guy," said the 24-year-old x-factor player.
“The way he's helped me as a mentor when I came in as youngster in 2018 has been amazing. He's helped me a lot with my kicking and my general play.
“I have to give him credit for my performance. He kept me calm and assisted me with my preparation during the week. He's just such a selfless guy all round. Hats off to him.
“It wasn’t really that tough. I’ve been getting reps there since the Welsh series. So just slotting in tonight was a bit of a different role. But I enjoyed it. So credit must go to all the coaching staff and the guys who helped me throughout the week,”
The Springboks face Argentina next week Saturday in Buenos Aires in their penultimate match of the Rugby Championship.
