The South African National Under 20 Rugby team got their World Rugby under 20 Championships off to a winning start with a 33-27 victory over Georgia in Perpignan last night.

Chean Roux's chargers drew first blood with a score early in the game but seemed to have lost the ascendancy after the Georgians struck back and continued to apply the 1st half pressure as they went into the halftime break 17-12 up on the South Africans.

A stern talking to by Roux seemed to have done the trick for the Junior Boks who came out firing in the second half to run in an additional three tries on that of the 1st stanza's two tries.

In the end, the Junior Boks were pushed to the very end of the game by the Georgians and according to Captain Salmaan Moerat, they expected nothing less from the opposition, adding that there are many lessons they can take from the game.

"We knew the Georgians would come out tonight and they came out and knocked us up front, we did not expect anything less."

"The message at halftime was just to look after the ball and try to play in their half, luckily we did that and it went our way, but in saying that I think there is still a lot of things we can work on, " Moerat said.

The Junior Boks next face Ireland in their second pool match on Sunday followed by a match against the hosts France on Thursday the 7th of June.
