The Griffons travel to the City of Roses for the first match of the 2nd half of the Rugby Challenge season and despite having a reasonably successful opening stanza, the Welkom based side are looking for an improved performance.

In these side's first meeting of the campaign, the Free State XV managed a 56-31 win over Oersond Gorgonzola's men in Welkom and the purple jerseys are looking to return the favor.

Griffons Captain, Duan Pretorius says the season may not have gone exactly to plan but that they look forward to a new chapter that starts with the Free State XV.

"I think as a team we kicked off the season very well, towards the last 3 games i think there is 1 or 2 we should have won but the bounce of the ball never went our way."

"We looking forward to the second half of the season, we have taken a lot more positives out than negatives and the guys are looking forward to the weekends clash with the Free State," Pretorius added.

Friday evenings match between the Free State XV and the Griffons at the Toyota Stadium kicks off at 18:00.
