Martin was originally committed to The Big Breakfast on OFM until the end of March 2020, but the date was brought forward to January 31st, 2020.

In the last year, Martin has been forging a new path for himself and OFM is more than happy to assist him to make the most of those plans.

Says Tim Thabethe, OFM Programme Manager: “Martin has walked a long way with OFM and its audience. Despite the sadness that comes with his departure, we can only wish him the best going forward.”

Martin joined OFM in April 2013, fresh out from behind the mic at TUKS FM, where he honed his skills while studying B. Com Marketing at the University of Pretoria.  He started his career at OFM as host of the afternoon drive show, Siesta, but later took the reins on The Big Breakfast – Central South Africa’s premier radio show broadcasting to four provinces, including the Free State, Northern Cape, North West and the Vaal region in Gauteng.

Thanks to his entertaining personality and excellent people skills, he also became a popular MC, hosting some of the biggest events on the Central South Africa social calendar.

The successor to The Big Breakfast was recently announced and is highly anticipated.  Popular mid-morning host Shandor Potgieter will soon host The Good Morning Breakfast  Show, assisted by new recruit Lesley Piet and Supersport presenter Sam Ludidi. This is part of a new on-air line up, introducing a new era of presenters, hosting different programmes in various time slots that will inspire listeners to live the real good life in #20plenty.

Gewilde OFM-aanbieder reg vir opwindende nuwe uitdaging

OFM, die radiostasie in Sentraal Suid-Afrika wat luisteraars aanmoedig om voluit te leef, moes ongelukkig een van sy gewildste aanbieders, Martin van der Merwe, groet. Martin was oorspronklik tot einde Maart 2020 tot The Big Breakfast gekontrakteer, maar die datum is tot 31 Januarie 2020 vervroeg.

Die afgelope jaar het Martin se loopbaan ‘n opwindende nuwe wending geneem en OFM wil hom graag bystaan om die meeste van hierdie uitdaging te maak.

Volgens Tim Thabethe, OFM Programbestuurder het Martin ‘n lang pad saam met OFM gestap.

“Ten spyte van die hartseer om hom te groet, wens ons hom alles van die beste toe vir die pad vorentoe.”

Martin het in April 2013 by OFM aangesluit vars van agter die mikrofoon by TUKS FM, waar hy sy radiovaardighede ontwikkel het terwyl hy B.Com Bemarking studeer het.  Hy het sy loopbaan by OFM as aanbieder van die middagprogram, Siesta, begin, maar later die leisels van The Big Breakfast oorgeneem. Hierdie program was Sentraal Suid-Afrika se vooraanstaande radioprogram en is na vier provinsies uitgesaai, naamlik die Vrystaat, Noord-Kaap, Noordwes en die Vaal-streek in Gauteng.

Danksy sy vermaaklike persoonlikheid en uitstekende mensevaardighede, was hy ook ‘n gesogte seremoniemeester en het hy sommige van Sentraal Suid-Afrika se grootste sosiale geleenthede aangebied.

Die opvolger van The Big Breakfast is onlangs aangekondig en daar word met groot verwagting hierna uitgesien.  Die gewilde aanbieder Shandor Potgieter sal binnekort The Good Morning Breakfast Show aanbied, saam met nuwe vonds Lesley Piet en Supersport-aanbieder Sam Ludidi. Dit is deel van ‘n nuwe programaanbieding in verskillende tydgleuwe, met nuwe aanbieders wat luisteraars hopelik sal inspireer om in die nuwe dekade waarlik voluit te leef.
