“It’s an incredible feeling. Actually, I thought that the first time would just feel like this, and then the second time – if there was a second time – wouldn’t feel as special, but the emotions in the last few laps were exactly the same as in 2019.”
Charles Leclerc of Ferrari claimed an emotional win on Sunday by winning the 2024 Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
The F1 driver from Monaco started in fourth on the grid by managing to claim a rare win for the Italian constructor by taking the checkered flag in 1:14:40.72. He beat Oscar Piastri of McLaren by 2.664 seconds for his seventh win overall, and second of the season.
Piastri’s teammate, Lando Norris, who was in pole position, finished in third to round off the podium.
Following his win, Leclerc, said it was just as special as his Monza victory back in 2019, and this year’s Monte Carlo win.

“Just watching the grandstands inside the track … which is tricky – but incredible.
“I mean, Monaco and Monza are the two races I want to win every year. Obviously, I want to win as many races as possible, and the World Championship as soon as possible, but these are the two most important races of the season and I managed to win them this year. It’s so, so special.”
Next week the circuit will be in Baku for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
